ART-IFICIAL REEF
Inspired by rich memories exploring coral reefs, and with ode to coral lost to degradation, bleaching and cyclonic impact, ARTificial Reef celebrates the conservation efforts intent on preserving and restoring our beloved reefs. In a time of cutting-edge technology and construction ARTificial Reefhopes to inspire a renewed wave of conservation: one of active intervention building the foundations for coral to grow and for our reef eco-systems to flourish in restored glory.

Having witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of coral loss on once vibrant eco-systems, and with understanding of the significant portion of marine life reliant on coral reefs at varying stages of their development, we were inspired to create a wearable art piece posed to spark conversations on the importance of active reef conservation. Enraptured by the extraordinary free-form sculptural potential of cutting-edge design and innovative fabrication technologies, we ponder a new approach to reef conservation. Wherein artificial reef installations are in themselves enticing works of coral-evocative art. Providing essential habitats for marine life and the foundations for natural coral growth, whilst creating enchanting sculptural wonderlands for scuba and snorkelling enthusiasts to explore whilst the natural growth slowly takes hold.
ARTificial Reef envisions just this; humanoid form enveloped by a spectacular array of marine organisms thriving in the eco-system restored by the coral-inspired sculptural installation.
